Trace Elements, is composed entirely of flour formed into four rectangular shapes. The two central shapes are taken from photgraphic images. Through numerous processes the images are reduced from their actual form and then re-translated into the resulting final piles of flour on the floor. The outer rectangular shapes are taken from a spoken language and translated into a binary language. These processes leave only blurred fragments of information of the authentic source material. The flour is installed on site and arranged into thousands of small piles, which physically allude to the idea of impermanence and the visual sensation of permanence at the same time like a Tibetan sand mandala.
