With many of my works the audience of a space is paramount to its completion. "Affect or Effect", is an object that defines both the time and space it exists in. The piece is created by compressing flour on top of a white pedestal. Embossed on the surface of the flour is a faint image of concentric circles that take the natural form of a ripple. The title suggests a duality and is based on the conflict of interpretation. Over time, depending on the space and the audience, the piece evolves as the need to understand extends beyond sight.
